HP Dc7900, Windows 10 and mouse/NIC issues

So, we recently upgraded a room of HP dc7900 SFF machines from Windows 7 to Windows 10 1803. Since doing this we've had nothing but trouble as below:

 

1. The machines themselves don't seem to have a chipset driver for Windows 10, so USB doesn't work. We put in PCI-E USB cards to combat this.

2. Mice and keyboards work, plugged in to this new card. However, randomly, mice just power off. Only way to get them back on is unplug/replug.

3. Sometimes, on startup, the NIC doesn't enable. A reboot fixes it.

 

These things happen at random across the 32 machines.

 

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, how do I resolve it?

 

The machines are actually used as thin clients, so if I can't resolve with Windows 10, I'll roll back to Windows 7 and live with that until the OS goes fully EOL and we retired the machines.

There are a few firmware updates on HP's website, any of those help?

Sadly we've tried firmware updates - they're all fully up to date now, and its still happening.

I guessed you probably had, nothing direct from the oem's of the hardware? (I'm guessing you've already tried as well)

Hmmm. We're running a large number of DC7900s on 10, but build 1703. I didn't do anything with them driver wise, other than use what came within the OS and whatever the automatic driver search could pull directly. They work 100%. Worth trying the older build to see what's changed?

For the Nic have you tried updating the BIOS?

I've had various issues with 1803 at some of my sites, I've rolled them back to 1709 which fixes most of them. Edited October 8, 2018 by djm968
