Hi folks,

I have an issue in my schools just now with regards to ABV378PRO boards connected to HP 800 G3 desktops.

The issue is that when the board is connected to the PC the PC will not startup but when you unplug the USB the pc will spring into life. This only happens with ABV378PRO boards all other boards and Panels work with no issues and only happens hen connected to HP 800 G3 desktops.

I get the feeling its the PC's that are the issue and an easy fix. Has anyone came across this and found a fix? It's happening in all my schools.

Cheers

Hi Gordon,

Just out of interest do you have the boot priority on the computer to 'USB' first? - It could well be that the computer is attempting to boot its OS from the board.

I would also see if you have any options for USB 3 in the BIOS, and turn them off.

I would also highly recommend that you get the ActivBoard firmware updated to the very latest available (at least 8.09). (you would need to contact Promethean technical support to ensure you get the correct file.

You don't happen to be using something called 'Zenworks' do you?

That should be a good starting point.

Thanks

We've been having this for years with our HP Compaq Elite 8000 SFF's and AVB378PRO's

It's an intermittent but transient issue. It won't always happen, but when it does happen it'll linger for some time, consistently stopping the PC from booting each and every time, before stopping (and again, consistently stopping) where it then won't be an issue again for a long time. We've never found a solution to it beyond unplug the USB, boot the PC, plug the USB back in once you see the Windows 'flag'.

When I last reported it (2013), several others corroborated the issue.

Cheers for the reply.

Tried all that and nothing seems to work. Our education dept have just advised the teachers how to get it working and no complaints from them which is a bonus.
