i have removed addins from excel like adobe disabled start up items when pc has start up I have check the task manager as well to see what is going on

I have check for updates as well to see if any have not even applied to windows 10 and office

You could create a copy of the Excel document and move it to a PC so see if it is any faster when opened locally, Anti-Virus?, is this a standard excel file or has it Macro's .

I had this on the BM's PC which an 3rd gen I7 with 16gb ram and an SSD, so the machine spec doesn't seem to make any difference...

I've done the following to fix this on a number of different machines:

Kill the user profiles on the machines and try again...

Turn on superfetch: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_excel-mso_winother/opening-excel-file-directly-is-very-slow/788b0991-ad84-40bd-b5c1-21b7fdc8d2bf

Or the good old DDEEXEC issue: https://www.tenforums.com/microsoft-office-365/12963-excel-error-when-opening-documents-problem-sending-command.html

I've had this.. where the Excel logo is shown but it doesn't load the spreadsheet. I've found double clicking twice on Excel (not the spreadsheet file) will open the spreadsheet..
