mundlim Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Who do people purchase new PCs / laptops from? - I used to use MISCO quite a bit .......
djm968 Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 (edited) Most of our academies use Ebuyer (https://www.ebuyer.com/business) they have dedicated educational sales consultants and the pricing is usually quite competitive. Some of our academies also use PC World Business. (https://www.pcworldbusiness.co.uk/?) Edited October 1, 2018 by djm968 1
FN-GM Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 We buy from Nviron. They seem to get the best pricing on Dell equipment.
mikeprice Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 If you are OK with refurbished stuff the ICT Direct are a good place to start nice coffee too!!! Very PC are also a possibility - very helpful and they do nice socks if you are quick!! 3
christhetech Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 I've used PCM a couple of times and they were quite keen with pricing and I had no complaints at all with the service. Our old Misco account manager, Richard Jones, was snapped up by PCM when Misco went under, so I already had a really good working relationship with him and he already knew what kit we had been purchasing from Misco, so it was a really simple transition. I've also used our AV supplier, http://www.futurevisuals.co.uk, a few times too. They tend to be reasonably priced and also offer the option of "buy-back" on old equipment. On the occasions where we have used Future Visuals, we have taken the HDDs out of a few really old, crusty PCs and got a little bit of cash back towards the purchase of new kit. I normally wipe the HDDs, remove them and put them into the pile for disposal, which we use Recycle IT for. Recycle IT will give you cash back on old equipment too, so I will normally check first with them to see if they will offer a better price for our old kit than Future Visuals have offered. FV will also provide your quotation with their "buy-back" price included as a discount on your new equipment, so you just pay the balance between the buy-back price and the price of your new kit. 1

Fazza Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 AMC Computer Supplies for Branded PCs or for our computer suites we use either VeryPC or NS Optimum as the latter 2 have tamper-resistant cases where you lock (or screw) a rear cover on that prevents any of the 'little rascals' unplugging any of the cables. 2
HTCPCP Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 Always like the VeryPC kit, good price, and you can get a skin on it with custom branding. (you also get the benefits of dealing with Colin too!) For current workplace, I deal with Dell and HP directly, with some purchases from Insight too. 3
southhamster Posted October 1, 2018 Posted October 1, 2018 We use insight quite a bit and they have been consistently good on price and delivery. 1
