Hi,

Just tried to RDP onto server as Administrator , allowing me to put in username and password, connects up , but then I only get a blue screen and not able to do anything. Same thing happens when physically at the server.

Any ideas?

Other logins work fine - for the moment..

Thanks in advance

Not familiar with Server 2016 specifically, but I had this with a 2008R2 VM. It would run okay as long as nobody logged in, at which point it would bluescreen. We could log in under safe mode, however.

The problem turned out to be a corruption in the registry (specifically to the current 'control set'). This blog post fixed our problem - Alex Heer's IT Blog - Blog - Alex's IT Blog. Other than that, I don't know.

Hi ,

Thanks for prompt reply - I'm not getting a BSOD - just literally as pale blue screen - like graphics aren't loading?....

Server is working fine otherwise...at least I think it is...

I'd suggest killing and then restarting the explorer process if you are able to, if that doesn't work then update graphics drivers if it's physical, if that doesn't work then I guess I'd be deleting the profile of the Administrator account and remoting in to create it once more.
