[sims] SIMS slow to launch

We recently migrated SIMS to a new server on a new domain, and upgraded all our clients to Windows 10 in that school. Since doing that, the time it takes for SIMS to go from being double clicked on to the login box appearing has increased dramatically - 40+ seconds.

 

Can anyone advise what is causing this slowness? The server itself is speedy as heck, and the machines I'm using are all i5+ with 8GB RAM and SSDs...

Named Pipes enabled?

 

Also, has the DMS been configured etc? Always slows things down when the DMS isn't correct as it goes looking etc.

Yeah Named Pipes are enabled, and DMS is configured properly.

Is DMS set to use http 8080? If so try altering it to TCP and any other port that isn't commonly used. We found various things from antivirus to active network management on switches like to inspect packets on 8080

Are you running simsload.exe or pulsar.exe.

Pulsar just opens sims and should display the logon screen almost immediately whereas simskoad does a whole host of crazy things like looking up all your sims related exes are up to date.

Not really necessaryif your SOlus 3 managing your updates.

I would analyse the problem with Windows Performance Toolkit (recorder and analyser).

You can analyse your entire system or just Pulsar.
