kennysarmy Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 New Xerox PDF.pdf This is a PDF created by our new XEROX copiers, using the scan to home folder option (scan to email is the same) Can someone please open it in Acrobat Reader and make a selection then copy and paste in to another application (WORD, PAINT etc) Can you tell me if it works? If not, can you try with one of your own random PDF's. If that works, can you tell me what's up with the XEROX PDF!!! Thank-you
korifugi Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 (edited) I can't select text in it - it's almost as if it's a flat image rather than a scanned document. EDIT: If I copy the lot and paste that I get the following... Edited September 14, 2018 by korifugi
Accura2k7 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 If I open it in Word 2016, i can highlight the text and edit it fine....
dcwhitworth Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Isn't that how a PDF scan should work ? It will just capture an image of the page, not actual text unless it has some specific OCR facility to do this.
kennysarmy Posted September 14, 2018 Author Posted September 14, 2018 Yes, the black image box thing is what we are getting, which we never got when we did the same procedure with our previous scans from our SHARP copiers. What is wrong with this PDF??? XEROX are claiming they've never seen this behaviour before! Does anyone else have any XEROX copiers to see what happens when they scan? Could our devices be faulty?

Yes exactly, but previously we could extract sections out by copy and paste method, not just the text, but whole areas. Staff could scan a page of a book then extract a particular area and paste in to say Powerpoint.
Accura2k7 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 Just an image.... oddly in word it only shows text
