wireless keyboard & mouse

need a suggestion for a decent wireless keyboard and mouse - only requirement is the range is good.

 

need one for a hall - the current one you need to go fairly close to the laptop - ideally want a longer range.

great feature is an extra mouse button on the right which allows you to operate it while moving the mouse with you left hand

 

range is supposed to be 10m - my experience confirms this

We use Logitech K400 wireless keyboards with integrated touch pads for our hall and touch screens with OPS PCs - stops the mouse roaming off separatly. Range seems okay (not measured it), although the receiver is an ultra-small USB dongle. On a couple of our touch screens the receiver sits behind the (solid, mostly metal) screen, so we had to add a short USB extension cable to poke the receiver out from behind and get a good signal - could be a similar issue you're having?

Have you considered running an active USB repeater for the dongle? Or maybe running the USB over CAT5 cable - Lindy have good products that meet specific needs. We used one of their IR repeaters over CAT5 for our hall projector where from the back of the hall the signal was too far away for the remote to power it on - installed it and it worked a treat!

+1 for these. Brought one to trial a few years ago. Then replaced most of the sixth form with them (and a compatible mouse) as the original wireless ones were dying. Great for short periods, wouldn't want to use one for typing all day or as my daily driver but that's not what they're designed for TBF.

 

Brought one myself for my home lab server from Amazon Black Friday deals a couple of years ago - still not had to change the battery yet!
