snagrat Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 We have a funny issue where the machines that are connected to ActivBoards will not load ActivInspire. The splash screen will simply freeze and then crash. They did work fine for several months but are now unable to find what has changed to cause this. I will try and get some version numbers but wondered if there was anything I could check.
phillyrovers Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Hi @snagrat, I can see you have specifically mentioned machines that are connected to ActivBoards....do the same machines start ActivInspire successfully when they are not connected to the ActivBoards? When the splash screen comes up do you notice if the flame fill sup or not? - If it doesn't, then it's likely to be a flash problem, uninstall flash and see if inspire opens without it. (you may well get a flash error when you open it, but it will open). If it does, then crashes, its a files issue: Delete this folder and see what happen: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Promethean It could also be a combination of both of the above, so do both and see what happens If you are still struggling I would recommend you contact Promethean Tech Support for them to look at this one. Thanks
snagrat Posted September 5, 2018 Author Posted September 5, 2018 (edited) Thanks you suggestion put me on the right track. Appears it didn’t like having Appdata redirected. Removed that setting and worked again instantly Edited September 5, 2018 by snagrat
phillyrovers Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Hi @snagrat, In this instance, and if you need roaming profiles setup. You need to tell ActivInspire where you are redirecting to via an admin.ini: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/?kb=1123 Specifically key 12. You should use the server UNC path and $ wildcards for the username and it should work for all user if you push it out for all users. If you need further help contact support and they’ll help you. Thanks
F_admin Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Just to add, I get the exact same problem with one single user. Deleting his roaming profile locally on his teaching room machine(s) and deleting the roaming data from his profile appears to resolve the issue temporarily, for a few months until it happens again. What would this suggest?
phillyrovers Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Hi @F_admin, I would highly recommend that you contact the support team in this instance. It appears that something is becoming corrupt over time. Thanks
