I can see a mad fight in Lancashire for this job; look at the wage!

Location: Manchester (M35)

Salary: £30000 - £35000

Company: Hotfoot Resourcing.

Job type: Permanent

A successful High School requires an ICT Network Manager. The role will be to develop, maintain and support the Schools windows 2000/2003 network of approximately 600 PC's and Active Directory domains. If you have previous experience of developing e-learning such as intranets and e-mail systems this will be a distinct advantage. You will be a good communicator being able to liaise with all users and to advise on the purchase and use of hardware and software. Once purchased you will have the necessary skills to install the hardware and software. You will be organised, ensuring that routine jobs such as back ups are completed and the network is administered in a secure fashion.

on 35K why not buy a 2up 2 down terrace (if its the school i think it is they will be damn cheap) then just go home for the weekend.

I would be careful to ensure that the wage and job is exactly as specified. It looks like an agency has posted that advert - they can be dubious and are well known to employers and potential employees as potentialy untrustworthy. I know of three friends who have gone through quite a lot of trouble with IT agencies and in the end applied for advertised jobs in the paper with much greater success.

Off my soap box now!

I used to be a contractor, and aside from the occasional lapse in payment from the agencies I worked for, I never had a problem with them. And I did that for 5 years, and got a permenant job thorough an agency. I've not seen a school advertise that way before though, makes me wonder how "bad" the school must be!

If M35 is the postcode then the school is actualy not in Manchester but Oldham. That narrows it down to one school where the Network Manager was asked to leave recently and they are looking for someone who is more than the general run of the mill techie/NM.

Could be wrong though.

Oh and this school if it is the correct one is going to be totaly re built, starting this year so they will want someone in who can set up on a greenfield basis.

As for the school, they are currently under my school in the LEA tables.

I'm fairly sure mountain bikes shouldn't be used indoors, at least not in the bedroom.
