discoveranother Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 A couple of our customers have Windows 2008 R2 Servers. Have taken over these recently. Have transferred the Internet filtering to Smoothwall, who added a Smoothwall Certificate policy to GP. In addition, we no longer use proxy filtering and it now is transparent through Smoothwall. However, have removed the previous proxy settings from GP and added in Google as the Internet homepage in GP. However, have noticed that oddly, some laptops pick up the policies after running a gpresult /r check and others do not. Have cleared the laptop profiles just to check, ran gpudate /force, even rebooted and same outcome. The laptops are in the same OU. The gpresult /r command on some shows "the following GPOs were not applied because they were filtered out" Oddly, the filtering works on some but the Internet homepage goes to MSN. The Internet homepage has been set to Google in user configuration>preferences>control panel settings>Internet settings> and Internet Explorer 8. Settings it in Internet Explorer 10 and above is not available in Windows 2008 R2 GP. Thanks Guys
3s-gtech Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Server 2008 R2 can manage IE 10 and 11 fine using GPP, you just have to alter the XML in the GPO and change the maxversion parameter in there to 99. It'll then work.

3s-gtech Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 99.0.0.0 - basically you're telling it to support IE up to 'version 99' to max out the compatibility. IE 11 will be the last version so this should continue to work fine, and many settings transfer across to Edge from this.
