Can't for the life of me get the start tiles xml working with unc paths. Anyone managed it?

Yeah... kind of but I found it temperamental. I find it much more reliable to put the xml on the machine and point to that.

Bit scared to jinx it, but I followed the Microsoft instructions to create the policy and I use a unc path pointing to netlogon. No problems so far....

I couldn’t get any shortcuts showing that weren’t being pulled from the all users start menu. Any tiles pointing at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft... worked fine but anything pointing at \\whatever\shortcut just didn’t.

I’ve not looked at it for a while though as we went with Classic Shell in the end.

Yeah tiles pointing at unc paths just plain won't work, they have to come from the all users start menu. Where I need to do this I just map a drive and put a shortcut in the all users menu and point to that.

Yup as above, Shortcuts need to be in the All Users Start Menu, I just use Group Policy to copy and shortcuts i need to that location on the machine and the XML points there. works fine.

I actually thought that the nature of the question was to do with the location of the xml (ie pointing the machine to a UNC path) rather than UNC shortcuts on the menu?
