Jawloms Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 I'm off to the o2 to see walking with dinosaurs with my 12 year old on Wednesday at 3pm. I want to drive as much of it as possible and shall be approaching it by coming down the A12. Any suggestions as to the best places to park, even if it's park away from it a bit and then tube/bus the rest? Thank you Stuart
DalekSec Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Any reason you're not training it? I've been to the o2 countless time's always gone on the train and tube and not had any problems! 1
bald_pig Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 O2 has plenty of parking, and it's quite easy to get to the O2 from the A12, just allow some time in case of traffic through the blackwall tunnel. I think you have to pay in advance to park, check the website first! 1

Especially from East Anglia, very easy to get off at Stratford, short journey on the Jubilee line and there. Of course, I know what Greater Anglia are like with running trains at inconvenient times. 1

Because I'd assumed the train for the two of us would be dramatically more expensive, but as we're probably travelling off-peak there may not be a lot in it.
hardtailstar Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 I always drive to the O2, Parking is about £23 I think if you book early and then goes up to about £30 2
elsiegee40 Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 We park at the O2 and pay in advance online. I am not sure if ExCeL parking is cheaper. You could then take the Emirates AirLine over the river to the O2 which goes down well with children 1
Jawloms Posted August 13, 2018 Author Posted August 13, 2018 At the moment I'm looking at £30 fuel, around £20 parking and £5 for the Dartford crossing. I've not even looked at whether the congestion charge is involved. Train from home town return for the both of us off-peak is around £45 total. Hmmmm......

The Greenwich Peninsula is outside the congestion charge zone, so unless your route comes through London you won't need to pay it. Where are you coming from that you need to use the Dartford Crossing? South of the river you'd surely just come in on the A2? From the north I'd normally use the Blackwall Tunnel as the o2 sits on top of it. Edit: saw you were coming down the A12. You can just stay on the A12 the entire way as it runs into the Blackwall Tunnel once you're beyond Stratford. Edited August 13, 2018 by jtotheb 1
