Hi All,

Does anyone have any old RM Nimbus PC 186's they wouldn't mind selling or giving away? Or if not any Research Machines related equipment such as 286 / 386 / 486 pc's?

I know these things don't really exist anymore but if you do have anything like this and want to sell/get rid then drop me a message.

Thanks!

Suppose I'm fortunate then to have quite a few passed through my hands, I actually have a RM Nimbus 486 in the loft but it needs repair. £500 seems a bit steep though for a bit of nostalgic indulgence but I suppose I'm guilty of paying over the odds for old kit.

I take it you run the Nimbus website? Do you have a lot of old RM equipment/software?

Hi

The museum tends to concentrate on the 186 but Ive a few of the other types, although I don't have the Nimbus 486, think there is an S series 486 somewhere in there.

Feel free to photograph it for adding to the site, interesting to see it documented and see what parts are fitted to it.

Hi Matzo,

Do you still have RM Nimbus 486 available? If you do still have, I don't mind buying it from you. Do you have any photos?

I'll send a few photos over very soon, I've recently started looking into the old RM kit again and came on here to see if anyone on here has an early edition or system image of the RM Window Box software for 3.11 and willing to trade for a later edition.

Just refurbished a RM PC4100 PCI Accelerator (486 DX4 100MHz) and I think it's turned out well. I figure this was the more expensive option at the time or just after the 486 nimbus came out.

In terms of hardware the 486 nimbus has motherboard with an LPX slot and riser with a ZIF socket 3. The processor is an Intel 486/66 DX2. Can't say whether it has a custom bios to run old software at this point, I know the network card is a key component to make it run with the older nimbus's, but I'll keep you posted.

Do you still have RM PC4100 PCI Accelerator? Is it possible to send some pics, I'm very interested to see them. So far, I've got RM Nimbus X10, 186 PC2 (1985 design), 186 PC2 (1987 re-design), Slimline PC-186 and now I'm getting RM Nimbus PC-386/20 - on it's way to me by post.

Unfortunately, I don't have RM Window Box software for 3.11, only other software supplied with PC-186's, I'm afraid. I love these RM Nimbus PCs so much, but I wish I've got some RM Nimbus 486's added to my collection.
