limawhiskey Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 (edited) It's been showing the same content to me for a couple of weeks. Clicking through gets me today's posts but the ticker sis still showing me the same old thread titles, leading with this one: National Pupil Database access on hold - Sharing of school pupils' data put on hold - BBC News (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-44109978) DPA and GDPR perhaps already having a significant impact?... I have tried clearing cookies for edugeek.net and logging back in, no joy. Edited August 1, 2018 by limawhiskey 1
ZeroHour Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Hi Lima, Which sections of the site are you seeing this? The feed changes depending on the forum/page you are on so if you could let me know where you are getting the problem I will see if I can find out why. Cheers
limawhiskey Posted August 2, 2018 Author Posted August 2, 2018 Thanks. I'm seeing it everywhere the ticker appears, in this thread for example, but also in the forum section pages, and the all the main site tabs; Home, Forum, Blogs, etc.
smurfomatic Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Same issue here. I'm getting this thread on the homepage - which was posted in March! http://www.edugeek.net/forums/scripts/193787-create-share-based-computername-give-permissions.html All other threads in th ticker are from the same time period.
hardtailstar Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 I noticed this morning that the ticker seems to have a couple of threads at once so can't read it. A refresh gets rid of it but it's happened twice. I'll take a screenshot next time it happens
limawhiskey Posted August 2, 2018 Author Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) Some testing results: I'm using Chrome as my browser. Even logged out of the site, the ticker is stuck in time. I have just tried a different browser (Firefox) and the ticker works as expected. Ticker also works as expected in Chrome's 'incognito' mode. Disabling all running Chrome extensions has no effect, ticker is still stuck. Restarting Chrome also has no effect. Edited August 2, 2018 by limawhiskey
limawhiskey Posted August 8, 2018 Author Posted August 8, 2018 @ZeroHour A further update: Clearing edugeek's keys in Chrome's localStorage have restored the ticker to normal for me. 1
smurfomatic Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 @ZeroHour A further update: Clearing edugeek's keys in Chrome's localStorage have restored the ticker to normal for me. @limawhiskey How do I do this? Looked in the developer tools from the Edugeek homepage and nothing is listed under Local Storage.
limawhiskey Posted August 9, 2018 Author Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) From Developer Tools (on Windows, Ctrl + Shift + I or F12), go to Application then under Storage expand Local Storage > ht*p://www.edugeek.net Above the keys table is a button to Clear All. As soon as I refreshed the ticker went back to normal. Edited August 9, 2018 by limawhiskey 1
smurfomatic Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Thanks @limawhiskey, this is what I was trying but the "key" section is already empty...
ZeroHour Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 I am trying to figure out why this has occurred as it shouldn't hold on for this long. 2
limawhiskey Posted August 13, 2018 Author Posted August 13, 2018 Thanks @limawhiskey, this is what I was trying but the "key" section is already empty... No worries. Sorry, I'm afraid I can't be any more help, this sums it up nicely: 3
Oaktech Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 I'm seeing the same thing - I haven't got that technical, I just blitzed my cache in chrome for another problem and incidentally noticed the ticker came back working as expected for a few days. Now stuck again! 1
birchanger Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Not sure this adds much, but for some weeks I've been consistently seeing job postings from late 2017 in the ticker. 1
hardtailstar Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 @ZeroHour Digging up the old thread as this is happening again for me. Ive done the above but all 'Lastest threads' are from March this year. Running Chrome. 1
ZeroHour Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I have deployed a new version of the ticker, hopefully it will be okay now.
