TerryUK Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Hello, Since updating a number of my schools to Windows 10, I have found that some machines show the 'No Internet Access' error message on the network status icon. I have spoken with LGFL who has said its nothing to do with their network and it must be an internal issue. This issue only appears to be affecting the LGFL schools I look after and not the Essex schools. Has anyone else on LGFL had this issue? We have a support ticket open with Microsoft who have been looking into this for months with no resolution so far. Thanks!
Steve21 Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Might want to read through this: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/smoothwall-direct-support/197099-no-connectivity-windows-machines.html Short answer is you probably haven't set a system level proxy in Win10 as that's different to how it worked in Win7 etc Steve
TerryUK Posted July 31, 2018 Author Posted July 31, 2018 Thank you, I have read through that and unfortunately LGFL have a transparent proxy so we can't force the proxy to be set from IE. I have also tried the ping 8.8.8.8 solution with no luck. I have also tried setting up an internal NCSI server and this has not made any difference either.
psydii Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 We're on LGFL and don't have this issue. Fire up wireshark and watch what a windows 10 box tries to talk to as it boots/logs on. Look particularly at anything that fails.
RichS Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 Assuming you've tried both netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset on that? What build are you currently on? We are using an LGFL connection on Windows 10 and its fine, as above, wireshark is a key bit of kit here. Assuming because of that error, cortana isn't working as it thinks its not connected. You mention Essex, did they have a proxy... believe they did. Win10 uses the winhttp proxy rather than browser based addition, so might be worth double checking nothing has been added to the actual local settings rather than no browser proxy etc. I know it played havoc with Windows updates and other such things when we were running through a proxy based environment.
