Hi folks,

Is there a specific need to create a user account from a staff record? My guess is that it just makes it easier to populate the details, but the two aren't connected.

Is that right?

Thanks

Main reason to do it is sync, automatic creation when they join, and deletion/locking when they leave. Then you have permissions, are they Head Of X? Also name changes.

Not all of your staff who have a personnel record will need a SIMS login account. But those that do should really be linked to their staff record. The only exceptions would be generic Supply Accounts or MIS support contractors.

I'm now wondering how a staff member's timetable links to their user account, unless it's based on that in the first place, rather than their staff record?

Timetables and assessment marksheets would link to the staff record, and if a separate system manager record exists timetables and marksheets would need to be searched for rather than appearing in the timeline automatically

Is there a way to tell if a user record is linked to a staff record?

In system manager - manage users if you search in find users, there is a column called Sims roles. If the only role for the account is user then it is not connected to a Sims record.
