amvc Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Hi Fed up with badges, trim and anything else removable being taken from machines, we are looking for something a little more vandal proof. We have looked at some modified shuttles which look pretty good, but does anyone here have any other suggestions? TIA Jon
SpuffMonkey Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 We bought Dell 755's in the end - though the HP SFF look pretty good too. Perhaps you should have a word with Vik at Rushden for the ultimate solution - I was very taken with his bespoke made cases. 1
Sirbendy Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 In the new building, we'll be going down the path of our parent academies...PCs in cages, only access to a USB extender except for servicing.. Can't wait.
Domino Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 As above the optiplex 755s are pretty robust to be fair, I don't think you'll ever find something totally vandal proof - it'd be nice to think that the classroom staff could keep an eye on them.....
rhyds Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 We use tall cupboards in rooms with PCs inside them, KVM extension cables and active USB extenders give access to the PCs from the desks. Pretty vandal proof really
fooby Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 A2Z Computer Products Ltd this impenetrable case is most of our school site. we went with another type once, and regretted it.
PEO Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 A2Z Computer Products Ltd this impenetrable case is most of our school site. we went with another type once, and regretted it. only problem I had with the cases you use is the power, switch mechanism tends to jam
fooby Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Ah, we havent noticed that so much here - It may have happened, but I dont specifically remember incidents of this happening. biggest problems we had seen before, was drive plates smashed in and ram stole, with metal plates behind the plastic here, that was less of an issue. hth
