Anothername Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 We currently run the InVentry sign in system and pupil's parent's sign in pupils if they are late etc. We have now been told by our DPO that the sign in system is not good as anyone could click the Pupil's tab, year group, then see a list of pupils in that class. He's not happy that it has the pupils first and last name....this is linked to SIMS though as well as the parents/pupils being able to select their lunch choice, and for evacuation/fire lists. Anyone else have this issue and how do you get around it? He was mortified when he came for a 2nd visit and his name popped up on InVentry from his visit 3 weeks earlier.
djrscally Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Two points: a) I think if it's in sight of reception, who would presumably see and stop someone obviously not a student from scrolling through the list of students, then the relatively low risk and harm of someone seeing a list of names is outweighed by the safeguarding benefits of the system. b) I'm pretty sure you can configure the front page so it doesn't have a Students tab anyway right? I assume they swipe a card rather than manually click so if you're worried about it maybe do that. Why was he mortified to find he's still on there?
StevieM Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 We are having it installed in September. I went to have a look at it in a local high school and it asked if I would like to be remembered for future visits. If it didn't ask your DPO's permission, it may be in need of an update.
jthompson Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 For the students list, you can include a stage where it asks for the day of their birthday (so, Students -> Year -> Form -> day of DOB -> Names) which would generally prevent too many names appearing on the screen at once. For visitors being remembered, the time limit for that is configurable iirc. 1
icemonkey Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) With the latest update, you can lock each individual button on the screen via the console and only enable it when someone needs to use it Edited July 19, 2018 by icemonkey typo
tinkerbotsict Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 There is a button in the admin section which takes off pupils. It was pushed through on an update and it caused us issues get kids signed in late. It can be enabled and disabled depend on needs/choice
Anothername Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 Thanks all for the responses. We are currently on an older version and have not been upgraded yet. I have to do a webinar now to get the upgrade, so will be able to look at it again once we are on the new version.
