Junior Librarian 3 school name has changed

Hi there

 

We have been using Junior Lib 3 for some time now without support, (costly) and for some odd reason that I can't fathom the name of our school has changed to another school in the left-hand footer of Librarian. I have trawled through the settings and the folders and can't find where Librarian is picking up the school name to display.

 

has anyone any ideas?

Is the 4 digit code the one that identifies your school? I have vague memories of that field being taken from the school code.

1: Can't remember! (IIRC I only ever did it when I re/installed the software).Got a few jobs to do but, if I get time and you don't get an answer in the interim, I think it's still installed here (now use Libresoft) - I'll try to have a poke around.

2: Got any new staff who may have inadvertently input their old school's code (or had any visitors/County library peeps in who may have just used the wrong code)?

I don't use it myself, but the fact that I've had to help out only once or twice suggests "pretty good". I think we'd like the "Start Page" to be configurable to a certain function; they're looking at this but it may be something that is unique to this school anyway. The only other problem that I can recall was fixed within minutes by a phone call. (IIRC an update had failed to take into account something or other and it was recoded their end pretty sharpish).

 

Going back to MLS: I had a quick look and couldn't see where to input the details short of running a backup and reinstall, but that seems a bit nuclear!

Thanks for the update regarding Libresoft Librarian, it looks as though we will be going down that road, primarily because of cost but also the very aggressive attitude of a salesperson at MLS.

 

back to MLS - how on earth can the school name change if it requires a re-install? Beyond me ... Only a couple of weeks ago our school name headed the labels and the base footer of MLS.

On the first: If you think they're aggressive now, wait until they hear you're stopping using them! BTW, if you are still under either the support or upgrade contracts, they want a ridiculously long notice period.

 

On the second: No idea! There may be a way to change the setting somewhere, but I couldn't find it in any of the submenus I checked. Might be worth having a poke around in the registry before you go as far as reinstalling?

Not under support anymore, thank god. They tried everything to get us to sign up again.

Hey, from what I remember as its been a while what you have been told is total crap.

 

In the settings somewhere there is an icon for a security guard, in the corner it looks like nothing but if you double click you get a new window where you can change your user id and school name.
