Show live recording in between slide show

Hi,

 

Just had a request asking if we can do the following for an awards night:

 

Have something set up that can alternate between the slide show on screen and live video feed when the winner goes up to collect the award ( to be shown on the screen)

 

Something that would be easy to set up and use ( and switch easily)

 

I have a mac mini and 2 large lcd screens that show the same thing or can show different things ( 4x4 matrix splitter)

 

initial thoughts are

1 - set up a second macbook with camera pointing to podium , use the matrix to switch between inputs

2 - have an ipad mirror to the mac mini ?

 

Any other ideas very welcome

Embed live stream onto a slide in the Powerpoint, using VLC or similar as the streaming source? So a slide announces the award, another announces the winner, and the next shows the feed. Not tried it, but could be an interesting and slick method.

If this were on Windows I'd be saying use Screen Monkey - as it's a Mac have a look at QLab.

Actually scrub that - SwitcherStudio will do exactly what you need. One Mac running PPT, the other running Studio. Then you can use iOS devices as your live cameras....
