iPad Drivers

I'm having an issue with iPads on a couple of Windows 10 computers that I can't figure out.

 

For the last 4 years, staff have plugged the iPads into Windows 7 and Windows 10 PCs and accessed the photos via Windows Explorer. It just works. No iTunes needed.

 

However, there are a couple of Windows 10 PCs that this just doesn't work on. When the iPads are plugged in, Windows attempts to locate a driver and fails. In Device Manager, iPad appears under Other Devices with a warning symbol.

 

 

The device status is "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"

 

 

In Device Manager, under USB Controllers, Apple Mobile Device USB driver is installed.

 

I have installed iTunes just to see if that works (though that isn't a permanent solution) and it still doesn't appear in Windows Explorer. I attempted to manually locate the drivers for the iPad in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers but it says they are not compatible.

 

Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

I've just tried and it hasn't worked. I made sure to restart the PC after installing the driver.

I had this during the interval of a show when I needed to copy Act 1's video off the iPad

 

Eventually managed it by messing with drivers; possibly removed all USB hardware's from Dev Mgr, removed all Apple from AddRemoveProgs.

 

Got there in the end but can't tell you exactly what!
