OneNote Integration With Write Back To SIMS....Wait What?

So apparently OneNote is adding integration to mark your work in one of their notebooks and write the mark directly back into SIMS.

Imagine being able to harness the power of OneNote to access your entire class, enter grades dependent on your school’s individual programme and for that information to then be recorded on each pupil’s record – all from one user interface and without the need to export and re-import data across multiple systems.

Thanks to an exciting new development, this is now possible. Our partnership with Microsoft now allows teachers to grade students and submit their marks directly back into SIMS automatically, meaning that any school where teachers use OneNote in the classroom can mark homework in their notebooks and bring the results back into their school MIS, driving efficiencies in their marking and analysis processes.

The training video tells us absolutely nothing about how this access is managed. It goes live next week.

Can someone from Capita please shed light how the data finds it's way back into SIMS and, if it is imported into AM7, how that access is controlled with permissions and finding the correct aspect/result set?

On another note, will Microsoft be allowed to open this functionality up to alternative MIS providers in the interests of fair competition?

See what you mean @CAM, but Microsoft aren't writing an Add-on for Capita. Capita are adding support for (another) Microsoft (product). It's like how they integrate with Word \ Excel.

I saw this over the past few days at the Capita Conference. Microsoft attended and gave a presentation etc etc.

It actually looks very good! The Aspects are all created automatically etc. Also depending on the actual term you are in when you enter the results, it will tag under the correct Capita term result set and insert columns automatically into the template.
