Blue_Cookeh Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 (edited) Hi Guys, We're about to enter into an agreement with our photocopier supplier and wanted to make sure we weren't being completely ripped off on the cost of PaperCut. We've asked for licensing for PaperCut MF with embedded software to cover x3 copiers. Does anyone else that's using PaperCut mind sharing rough costs their school are paying? I realise some of the cost will be offset against the paper/ink we're supposedly saving but I want to make sure our school aren't being completely ripped off - it's not like we can go around and grab quotes from elsewhere because we're halfway through our photocopier lease agreements and we'd have to go through these guys for PaperCut too. To me our quote doesn't seem overly expensive but it's still on the pricey end of my scale. Cheers Edited June 21, 2018 by Blue_Cookeh
Steve21 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 (edited) Annually we're paying about £600 for 8 copiers, but I don't know if there's other bits included in the cost regarding the embedded aspect in the lease (as a note it's based on users rather than copiers, but in regards to the embedded it's 8) Steve Edited June 21, 2018 by Steve21
Blue_Cookeh Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 That's roughly half the cost annually that we're being quoted. Our quote is PaperCut MF license + the embedded licensing on x1 HP and x2 Kyocera MFPs to enable PIN and follow-me printing (all installation included) - we're a small primary school so you can imagine the sort of pupil numbers we're talking.
Steve21 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Is the quote broken down at all? as might be worth asking them to do so. The embed licenses are costed based on the machine I think, so they could be anywhere from say £50 to £300~ a machine (based on the $ rate), if you're buying that separately to your normal leasing costs I guess that might explain where the difference is from. Also when you say installation etc is maintenance included on the actual server? Steve
ultima170387 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 On our new photocopier lease we are paying around £1200 for 5 years PaperCut Upgrade Assurance and 5 embedded licenses

Steve21 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I'm guessing that isn't including the base papercut license though if you're renewing? Just support? Steve
Blue_Cookeh Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 We've just asked for a detailed breakdown of the quote - seems a little high for a primary school, it would be more expensive than our entire MS EES agreement.
localzuk Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 We found that MFP suppliers seem to get charged more for it, and therefore charge us more for it. We buy it ourselves, direct from Greymatter now.

ultima170387 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I'm guessing that isn't including the base papercut license though if you're renewing? Just support? Steve Yea, just renewing. Sorry should have mentioned that didn't include the base license as we already purchased previously
