samba_man Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 We will soon be upgrading a good couple thousand laptops to Windows 10 from 7/8.1. Each staff member has their own laptop. The laptops use offline files for desktop, documents and favourites. Is there a way to check the staff member's files have synchronised while logged in as the local administrator?
jmak Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Could you check on wherever they sync too? Would save you having to log in to every machine....
samba_man Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 I think you're on to something there! I suppose if the modify date on the documents folder is current then it would be syncing. The main thing we're worried about it PST files so I could check the modify date on those too. I love this forum!
forkies Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 We have been doing the exact same thing recently. But logging into each laptop as the user. A side note. We did have one member of staff who despite a successful sync, lost work, this was because they had filled their quota on the server and added over the quota while offline. So now we are having to backup everyone’s files while “offline” because they are scared of loosing data, simple job made 10x longer...
samba_man Posted January 7, 2019 Author Posted January 7, 2019 (edited) For future reference if anyone else is in a similar boat, I found an xml file which lists sync conflicts on W8.1 and W10. It may well be on W7 too. C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\OfflineFiles\SyncConflicts.xml Edited January 7, 2019 by samba_man
ItsOggy Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Syncing PST files is a nightmare, I think they used to be excluded at one point in time. We ended up having bigger mailboxes and ditching PST completely because of sync issues corrupting these!
