OK a pc here has developed a very annoying problem. When you double click on a MS office (2003) file in explorer or Outlook it dosn't open and explorer hangs.

Files WILL open in MS office apps if you go through the file - open route.

Done a full virus scan and found nothing.

Anybody got any clues?

Googled it to no availe and as its the heads secretary it is now becomeing an issue.

In future, it might help to make your life easier by putting the contents of the CD on a network share and installing from there. You then don't have to worry about having the CD around when you do a repair, when there's a service pack etc.

Office 2003 has an admin install routine which you can use to create the network install point. Even if you only have a few machines and don't use AD group policies to deploy the software you can save headaches by keeping the install images on a server.

For stuff which you don't want to install like this you can put an ISO of the CD on a server and just use Daemon tools to mount that image when you need it - again, no CDs to lose and things are just less fraught :-)

OK this is still a problem.

Done a repair, done a uninstall re install and fully service packed and updated.

When you double click on an attacment it takes an age (at least 10 mins) to open.

Anyone got anything?
