MrWu Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Pleased (or not pleased!) that there was no egg and flour pranks today but a student managed to create a folder in the root of all my hidden shares with a text file (but it was a lovely goodbye message to the teachers)first time this ever happened on my watch.. Is he running off some drive scanning program that can see hidden shares? and worryingly write to it? So far that's it, no more pranks or panic (at the moment!)
ShellfishClive Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 It could just be that the students have figured out what the root is and have write access to it. Restrict their access to just read and it should fix your problem.
sted Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 hidden shares really only apply to windows devices iirc you can browse to them normally on a linux box / mac / probably an android device
