Hello,

Im currently running VMware 6.5.0 (Build 4887370) (Free version no vcentre) for a small primary school running 5 vms Server 2012 R2 however these have now randomly started to shutdown during the evening. There are no logs in windows server event viewer can any point me in the right direction of how to troubleshoot.

thanks

Now you say that, my test host that I've recently setup, the server on there each morning is switched off. Just not had any time to look into this. I would be interested in any solutions that people come up with.

Thanks in advance as well.

Have a look at the VM logs and see if there is anything there. Log into the web ui of the ESXi host, select the VM, then click the monitoring button (above the console preview image). Look at the Event/Tasks/Log/Notification tabs.

After looking through the logs of each vm i stumbled across this error happening before each turn off MXUserAllocSerialNumber: too many locks

after a bit of google came across this article i have applied this this temp fix until i can find time to update the host to 6.5 update 2. https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2149941
