We are currently running Eclipse MicroLibrarian, and have been contacted recently pushing us to upgrade to their cloud hosted version to overcome Silverlight issues. As a school, we feel the costs of the both the upgrade and the annual charges for the hosted version are prohibitive (even with the discount offered).

 

As we predominantly only use the system for booking, we are needing to look at what other solutions are out there for schools to use - better still if there are decent free/Osource systems available.

 

Has anyone any suggestions?

If you really aren't fussed about features there is Libresoft. Very cheap, very simple but does the job. AS a disclaimer I am not using them, I have researched the system for our librarian and spoken a few people about it. For a more feature rich system AccessIt looks to be a good 'un.

There are quite a few threads on here with alternatives. One member is even developing his own. I you want to ditch MLS cancel your sub (if you still have one) ASAP as they require 3 month's notice.

 

2 of my schools use Libresoft. From my limited use of it, I think it needs a bit more development. That said, they fixed a fault in their coding/setup within minutes of my report earlier this week.
