Creating a new mailbox databse and migrating the mail boxes to new database Exc2007

Hi

We have exchange 2007 and the backup are failing with major errors. When I checked the errors generated by the backup, it was saying Exchange database consistency check failed.

On the event viewer I can see errors Event ID 474 and 705 and now I am planning to create a new database and move all the mailboxes to the new database.

We use VMware the current mailbox database sits on D: and the free space is 828GB on this drive. Will it be ok to create a new mailbox database on the same D drive and migrate the mailboxes?

Or do I need to add and create a new virtual disc and name it as B: Drive and create a mailbox database on this drive and migrate all the mailboxes to the new database.

Also will outlook client needs reconfigured on the user workstations OR will it connect automatically?

Please suggest.

Thanks

You can have multiple edb's on the same disk, and the clients will not need any config the users may get prompted telling them to restart the client.

Sure , I have a Veeam backup of the server an in case it fails I can restore from the back up.

So please let me know how to start with Eseutil and what all switches I need to run in order
