Shadow_Walker Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 On my SIMS server the service Antimalware Service Executable is running at 95% and is slowing the whole server down. Scanned for virus and all came back fine. I can't seem to end the task or stop it either which is frustrating. Any ideas?
ShellfishClive Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Restart the server at a quiet time, I'd also check to see if it's updated to the latest.
Shadow_Walker Posted April 17, 2018 Author Posted April 17, 2018 Restart the server at a quiet time, I'd also check to see if it's updated to the latest. Restart has already been done twice. Sadly it is now hanging and won't restart
Norphy Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Which version of Windows? As extreme as it might sound, removing the anti-malware client might be an option. At least until you can figure out what's causing it to spike.
ShellfishClive Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 It may not be the anti-malware service that is causing the issue if you are having trouble restarting the server as well. Checl the temps which I am assuming are fine, it could be a faulty disk if it's hanging in general. If it ever boots, run some HDD diagnostics and see if you have issues.
forkies Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Has this when it was clashing with another service, had to set exceptions to not scan the whole of program files initially to stop it using all the cpu, then work out what it was scanning. Turned out to be a new Xporter service iirc at the time, scan was the scan on access so wasn’t scheduled.
