Acer laptop - fresh install of Win 10

Had to change BIOS to boot from legacy as it was from a DVD

All installed OK

Go back to BIOS to change to boot from UEFI and Secure Boot, and it won't boot

Thought it was best on UEFI ?

Any Ideas - Thanks

Yup, but you can't just swap them like that and expect it to boot. You *may* be able to convert the install, but I've never done so. Usually, if you want to UEFI boot, you need to install it as such. That should be possible from USB drive.

Something that went over my head

I could only boot from DVD to install Win10 by changing to Legacy

So what you are saying is that THAT IS THAT ....

Have I missed something (probably)

Was it a built-in optical drive or an older USB one? You can definitely install from DVD in UEFI mode, but maybe it was a hardware problem? How old are the bits of kit?

Nope it is 64 bit. Just checked disk management and it is a NTFS partition ???

It is an Acer Cloudbook 14 - with 32Gb EMMC drive

Ah! It all makes sense now. You should have mentioned that in the first post. :)

I think that laptop is one of those strange devices that has a 64-bit CPU but 32-bit UEFI which complicates matters when it comes to reinstalling Windows.
