Theldron Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Hi all, Apparently I have been promoted I am a messenger boy now. 4 times today I have been asked to run up or down stairs in my building to give teachers messages for students. Normally I dont mind, but its getting annoying as things are so manic. I did introduce Netsupport Notify to help with alerts, but staff don't like using it (sorry). My next thought was maybe installing Microsoft Teams, as would like staff to start using this anyway. What do others use for messages? Cheers
DJ-1701 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Ironically Netsupport Notify... though if you have that installed... why do you need to run up and down stairs? I would just send them a message from my machine. We've also used Skype for Business and in the past ComAgent.
Ksavage413 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Most communications are done via Outlook or our internal phone system, but Teams and Skype for Buisness are also good shouts. I'm not personally familiar with the program, but it might be worth looking at Slack? Alternatively if you want a tech-less solution get students on a rotor of reception duty in the younger years delivering messages. Slack: https://slack.com/

But the staff dont like to use it, thats why I was thinking that as we are an Office 365 school if I pushed Teams then staff would have no excuse as they are being "encouraged" to use more of the Microsoft Apps. How have people introduced Teams? And is there a way to install via GPO? Cheers
TTG_Alice Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Same as what @Ksavage413 said, Slack is a great fantastic messaging tool or 3CX have a instant chat too which you can connect to your phone app as well as your laptop/desktop
brownium Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Rocketchat is open source and slack-like. https://rocket.chat/ Takes a bit of setup but support quite feature rich.
robjduk Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Hangouts if you have Google but if not I dont see why old fashion email wont do the trick.
mjk Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 We use email for notifying staff and students. We're stuck in the 1970's ! I've tried introducing Hangouts but staff are reluctant to change.
