Spotify alternatives and music in classrooms

So due to the fact that spotify cannot be used in schools what are the options available if any.

Currently the teachers use spotify to stream a huge range of music from nursery rymes to the latest hits, is there an option like spotify that can be used in schools and not, why?

Also would there be anyway of setting up a sort of internal spotify, so have a library of music on a server and let teachers stream the songs they want from it and ideally restrict them so they cannot delete things or just break stuff in general.

 

I know in general media is a sticky issue due to copyright and usage and all of the various licenses that go along with the education sector.

youtube has been blocked for most staff due to them often allowing pupils to use the class computer (but may change after we get ourselves up to scratch with GDPR).

You could set up a DLNA server with only approved royalty free music on it. The other option is good ol' fashioned Shoutcast+WinAmp like we used to do in the old days!
