Instant Messaging for Pupils

Hi All

 

We have pupils who are entered on an entry level Digital Employability qualification. They need to be able to use some kind of Instant Messaging solution to provide evidence for their course.

 

Has anyone done this?

How did you approach it?

Any suggestions please?

Do you use office 365? Could you use Skype for business?

Loving Google hangouts at the moment. Would guess as a school you would be best using 365 or Google if you have either setup.

Skype for Business AKA Lync AKA OCS can log all conversations to the Exchange Mailbox of the user and then you can obviously use / set any retention etc as per Exchange so it has options as well.

As others have said, plenty of commercial cloud offerings. If you want something on-site, consider setting up a Jabber/XMPP server (its an open protocol so there are lots of options for both server and client software).
