Planet eStream eSign - Raspberry Pi?

Hi guys - has anyone using eSign from Planet eStream been able to get it running on some cheap hardware such as a Pi? maybe another recommendation?

 

We dont want to have several videos on the go at once so dont need to fork out for the pricey dedicated hardware they sell.

 

We have some older Pi's but it seems hard getting it all running due to software versions and I'm searching all over for fixes and leading from 1 issue to another. Wonder if simply getting the latest Pi we'll be fine or if there is an easier route sticking on the cheap path?

Bit of a late response but we are looking into doing the same and have tested some content on the latest Pi's which seemed to display everything fine.

 

Just need to create the actual content on eStream now and move away from OneLan..

We are currently using Chomebits after the cheap windows devices we brought kept running out of space (looking at you windows update!), i can see the Pi being a good idea but surely won't be great for running videos?

The Chrome devices would be my preferred route too if buying hardware again, at present I've got a motley crew of Windows 10 LTSB devices as quite a few of our screens are old and don't have HDMI inputs (!)

I believe we have the new Pi's (Pi 3 I think) which our Raspberry Pi Club used to test and videos worked fine. All that the Pi accessed was a link to the eStream signage where the videos were being kept but it seemed to run smoothly.
