[sims] Sims Online for primary schools?????

Sorry for silly question but is Sims going to be fully online and browser based? and if so when?

 

I remember some talk about the possibility of Sims getting hosted by Capita and the staff simply needing to login to a website to access it. For a primary school this will be great and I just wondered if anyone had any more info.

As far as I know that is how our staff access SIMS now, and have done for some time. We have a shortcut on the intranet page and they use that to log in to SIMS

Nope. We've used SIMS online for some months now. We are a junior school

How did you go about getting it? do you have a link or any contact info.

You can host the current version of SIMS in the cloud or at school, the next version (Sims8) is just cloud based we login here to access SIMS8 https://sts.sims.co.uk/login?

 

Your LA is referrring to SIMS8 which is still being tested with pilot schools and LA's.

Yes. SIMS '8' is just the version number - SIMS Primary is the Marketing Name for SIMS8. The current version of SIMS being used in schools in SIMS 7.

SIMS Primary is completely hosting online with website/app based logins... Not like the current hosted option of RDP to a server and loading SIMS.

 

Downside if FMS is not going online to schools for another year after, it is only for Academies/Trust schools, so you will still need a "SIMS" server to run FMS.

So does that mean that currently FMS can not be hosted as RDP by Capita along with Sims 7 version? or that its just an issue with Sims8.

Just with SIMS8 / Sim Primary.

 

The new FMS package which would also be online like SIMS8 is called SIMS Finance.
