It's not a bad idea... you could sit that in a remote share and it could save you ages!

It doesn't really defeat the point of core since it doesn't install any additional features... the buttons are like having shortcuts. It's a user friendly way of configuring - as opposed to writing scripts.

Isn't the point of server core to have a unix like command line, so its faster to administer and without unnecessary overhead.

Nope... it is to free up the resources that would be taken up with a GUI and to provide a smaller attack footprint against any nasty hobbits that may be out to get you!

Exactly as Ric_ said, it's incredibly efficient on resources and with no GUI, it minimizes the attack surface even further.

It could have been better if they had just stuck to text though! Why have a CLI-driven OS which has graphical components for the interface?!?

It is a step in the right direction though and the next release promises MinWin (which is what Core should have been).

Yeah I agree, but not everything Microsoft does is logical. It is a huge step in the right direction however (if you have a need for a CLI OS). It might be the case the graphical bits are very limited in the amount of code required; so it doesn't increase the attack surface any further.
