ass17 Posted July 20, 2020 Author Posted July 20, 2020 I have been asked to install your ExamWritePad on all our computers and was hoping that you have created a msi to make it easy to install on a whole school network Matt It’s portable so can run from a network share. I can create one if needed though, just let me know :-)
SteveSaywell Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 It’s portable so can run from a network share. I can create one if needed though, just let me know :-) I know that we would find a MSI very useful as well
ass17 Posted July 20, 2020 Author Posted July 20, 2020 I know that we would find a MSI very useful as well Ok for release 4 coming in August I will add an MSI to the download options. MSI with no shortcut icons? Or with?
Garacesh Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Ok for release 4 coming in August I will add an MSI to the download options. MSI with no shortcut icons? Or with? Option switch?
ass17 Posted July 20, 2020 Author Posted July 20, 2020 Depends on which software I use for MSI, I can only use the free stuff and not sure if possible, will have to check it out over the next few weeks [emoji1303]
Rob_D Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 If it's one or the other I say go for "with shortcuts", IMHO it's easier to delete an unwanted shortcut than to create one.

ass17 Posted August 1, 2020 Author Posted August 1, 2020 Hi All, The much anticipated release of version 4, a few more new additions, stability changes and fixes.... You can download it in portable or MSI form below: https://bit.ly/ExamWritePadDownload The changelog can be located in the documentation for future reference but below I will post it just for you :-) • NEW: A CD Player has been built into EWP (Sidebar control) so that you can now play your audio CD’s without having to load additional third-party software. You can play then as selected in single tracks or by default press ‘play’ and it will play all tracks one after another like a playlist. • NEW: A new audio library (BASS Audio) has been added as it is what is under pinning the CD Player within EWP. • NEW: A new audio library (NAudio) has been added to now detect whether the system is muted or not so that if you ask EWP to Mute Audio, it will do so unless the system is already muted, as EWP in this instance would unmute a muted system. This library is used to control the audio from ‘Narrator’ in order to perform tasks like detecting whether the master sound volume is below 50% and raise it to 75% in order to hear the narrated voice. • NEW: When getting list of users from AD, the current logged on user will be selected if the user has an associated AD account. • NEW: Added a Duplex checkbox If printer supports it. • NEW: Added config option "MonitorUSBDevices_ImgPath" so you can use a custom path to save the JPG images created by the USBMonitor app. • NEW: NCFE has been added as a new board with its own scribe coversheet. • FIXED: Issue when trying to retrieve AD group memberships when using ‘Override_Option_ADGroup’. • FIXED: When selecting a printer via the drop-down printer selection box, it never returned correctly whether the printer was in a ready or offline state. If the printer is returned in an offline state it will highlight the status in red to inform the user of the error. • FIXED: ALT+F4 will no longer close the app including bypassing the candidate info window etc. This was done to stop candidates from exploiting these bypasses... • FIXED: If you have a branded custom logo on your splash screen, if you update EWP through the built-in update, it will overwrite your logo with the default blank one, this issue has now been fixed and should leave your logo in place. • UPDATED: The JCQ have confirm that as it stands (1st August 2020) AQA and Pearson no longer required Coversheet (Form 4) to be supplied with a candidate’s exam printout. Only the Scribe (Form 2) coversheet is required if a scribe is used or Spell checking is turned ON. Therefore, the Coversheet (Form 4) button has been disabled/hidden for each exam board that is no longer requires it, more exam boards may follow suit at a later date. • UPDATED: TXTextControl component updated to version 18 (Service Pack 2). 4

ass17 Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 windows 10 has dot net 4.8 built in but still does not work or it asked for it to be installed but down not work? Are you using the MSI installer?
prestech Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Msi and Exe and I do not want to have to rebuild the RM CC4 windows 10 64bit computer to get it to work
ass17 Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) Does the portable version work ok? I ask because the MSI has additional.Net detection built in, therefore I can remove it if needs be. Edited August 7, 2020 by ass17
prestech Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I have tried both and nothing and this is on a plan windows 10 64bit laptop
ass17 Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 (edited) I have tried both and nothing and this is on a plan windows 10 64bit laptop Have you installed all the perquisites as per documentation? Anything above 1903 windows, then you only need to install the visual c++ runtime 2013 12.0.40.664 Edited August 7, 2020 by ass17
prestech Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 that is weird I have loom running and is uses visual c++ runtime 2015 I have now installed visual c++ runtime 2013 12.0.40.664 and both work sorry:third:
ass17 Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 2013 contains a specific update for XML that doesn’t get superseded by higher versions of c runtimes.
bald_pig Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Examwritepad for chromebooks? Probably not going to happen any time soon, would need to be written from scratch.
prestech Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Thanks just had to check as my SEN and Exam officer asked so I can say no
ass17 Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 Probably not going to happen any time soon, would need to be written from scratch. Correct and by the time that happens exams will be online anyway [emoji1][emoji1]
ass17 Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 The Exams should have been online years ago True but that’s a whole new debate that one [emoji1787][emoji1787]
