Can you recommend some antispam for exchange server 2010

 

must have outbound checking also

 

anyone got a solution in place?

Microsoft Forefront should allow you to do this, however if you configure the exchange server with IP blocks and Connection Filtering you should be able to keep spam to a minimum.

everycloud filtering is superb and ... sits in the cloud, very easy to set up, and has stopped 99.9% of our spam without too much hands-on from me, so thumbs up!

We got cut off from our isp relay due to spam being sent from our exchange server

 

 

I did find an open relay remnants from years ago not me.

 

I have closed that and changed all passwords

 

So im hoping this should stop the server being used as a relay.

 

Need something that checks all traffic from the exchange server.

everycloud has outbound filtering. I had a load of spam being sent from a user account, i think it was on his PC, and the provider messaged me about it. I created a filter to stop all outbound mail from the account until rectified. Once he'd changed his password and removed from home PC etc, virus checked, i removed the filter. You can trial it and it's very easy to implement, or ditch.. if not happy.

 

Are you just unconvinced that you've stopped it being a relay or is this the next step towards better filtering?

Next step not 100% sure its solved i need to monitor the server but did mot get chance before i went home. So if its fubar tomorrow then god knows what im going to do.

The isp only told me it was coming from the server and not a user. So i did av throughout the school and checked for open relays one found and disabled all passwords changed just in case.

I might give it a go tomorrow but im worried that something else is going on.

 

6 years and no issues so its been a stressfull day.

You could sign upto Office 365 and route your mail through this then onto Exchange. You can then take advantage of the free anti spam and security and still have an on-premise server.

They know more than that.... ask them for some proof like a log entry so you can investigate further.

We do have office 365 already but i have not had chance to move over yet.

You don't need to move over, you just need to route your incoming and outgoing mail through 365 servers for their filtering etc.

Not really without googling myself Plenty of stuff out there. You could just utilise it for outbound spam and turn off inbound spam otherwise you'll have 2 places to check I guess, but maybe a second tier would be good.

I use everycloud for spam filtering off the shelf, and just deploy rules on 365 to send stuff to quarantine or reject etc as well as some cloud filtering for specific users.
