Hardware for display screen

Hi there,

 

I am looking to put a TV screen in our Staff Room to display notices about school policies, ICT related info etc.

 

In the past, for our reception area screen, we have used what I believe is a Net Top Box, but it had some fancy software running on it.

 

Can anyone recommend what the best option may be for the staff room?

To be honest, it may be something I could have done via Power Point or something similar. Cost is not really a major concern (although, this is obviously only going to be seen by staff, so don't want to go too over the top on cost), but saving time is. I don't want something which is going to take ages to faff around with.

 

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We've got loads of TV's with Intel Sticks, then run Xibo on them all.

Now, we use Asus Vivo mini PCs on our display screens (but they've gone up in price a fair bit since then). For a while we used a smallish laptop with a knackered battery behind our reception screen. We've got Xibo now, but before that we just used VNC to login and kick off powerpoints, which is a nice simple solution. Xibo would take some initall faff to set up, but once it's up and running it's pretty simple and really powerful.

Interesting. Never knew these things existed. Which model do you use?

We got a smallish touchscreen running from a raspberry pi so that people can easily navigate the school diary etc.

If you have not yet purchased a screen then take a look at the Philips signage screens. Use their free software for adding content - easy to use templates
