StampStudy Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 We have a software package that requires the aero theme to be loaded in order to work. When we went around the room we noticed half the systems were already loading the aero theme and half were not. No problems so I thought as I set group policy to load the aero theme. What I have tried : - Setting the user policy Admin Templates/Control Panel/Personalization - Load A specific theme (cleared the profiles of the system as this only works on first logon) - Setting the user policy Admin Templates/Control Panel/Personalization - Force a specific visual style or force Windows classic - Attempted each on their own and both together - Tried pointing to the local win directory and to a network share - Also thought maybe I could let the pupils change this themselves using a loopback policy but for whatever reason our policies were still preventing them from getting into the personalization screen. What really boggles my mind is that if I log on the entire room with the same new user account then half have aero on the others dont. Any suggestions ?
Steve21 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Aero only enables if the machine passed the hardware tests etc, even if you've forced it to use aero if i failed to run the rest or just never has it won't actually enable it. If you log into one of the broken ones and check in think it was system info under control panel does it show if it's run it or not? (The system rating part) Steve 1
StampStudy Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Thanks, I am trying that now. I didn't think this would be it as when I log on as a domain admin the aero theme is loaded.

I am gobsmacked I am not going to count my chickens just yet but that loaded as expected will update after checking the rest of the room. Thanks Steve21. Steve21 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Just a heads up but if you ever find the test fails and brings back low numbers (mainly old crappy machines) it won't enable aero if it doesn't reach a certain number but as you found should do for the rest. Steve
