timbo343 Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Whilst redesigning our kitchen diner at home, i've bought some ceiling mounted speakers to go up once the ceiling is in place but i'm struggling to find an amp that sits in the wall that is actually any good. Here's 3 that i've seen: Vision Techconnect Amp Techconnect³ 50W Digital Amplifier - VISION AV | CPC UK Retro Touch T2000 https://www.ukelectricalsupplies.com/retrotouch-t2000-in-wall-audio-system-white.htm?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shop&utm_campaign=feed&gclid=Cj0KCQiAq6_UBRCEARIsAHyrgUyLOUAvWYv7Rss1HUThz0UgWLcUmMuSlUU6-d5Rfxq6FU951qSE9NMaAkzAEALw_wcB WA210 Wall Mount Amplifier 2 x 10w with MultiMedia Player Bluetooth - Multi Media and HIFI Amplifiers Really i would like it to have bluetooth, FM and a couple of inputs so i'm leaning towards the WA210. Has anyone purchased any in wall amplifiers that would be able to recommend any. Thanks
SamanthaD Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 We have the Vision in one of our rooms - very basic and not great quality. The WA210 does look good though - like the USB slot on the side, very sleek. Might not be too good in a kitchen though!

I plan to put it near the tv thats going in the kitchen.
gbiltd Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 ConXeasy SWA-401 Bit more powerful than others - has additional Bluetooth adapter too
jonathon28 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I've fitted one of these in my downstairs bathroom. Connected a Airport express to it via jack lead (Airport express is in dining room adjacent). I can listen to FM, or airplay music from spotify via my iphone. Works great. https://www.keene.co.uk/audio/amplifiers/in-wall-amp-only/keene-bluetooth-in-wall-digital-amplifier-excludes-power-supply-grey.html Alternatively, I have mounted 2x Sonos Play One's in two corners of the Kitchen. The sound on those is incredible. 1

mukz Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Hi @timbo343 this is would you would need https://www.keene.co.uk/power-supply-for-keene-20w-wall-mount-audio-amp.html 1
timbo343 Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 Thanks, i saw that. It makes it very expensive for it though when that is added 🙁. I wonder if we can put a switch spur to it so it will go... Mains electrical circuit > switch spur > figure 8 lead to PSU / transformer > transformer in the cupboard > low voltage wire in the wall to the face place. 1

I will ask my Father in Law, if no-one else knows. I am pretty sure your wiring is correct, but before anything goes kaput best to be safe

Mains electrical circuit > switch spur > figure 8 lead to PSU / transformer > transformer in the cupboard > low voltage wire in the wall to the face place. Yes, that can go on a switched spur. If you want so save a little money and buy a power supply of known quality https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Toshiba-Laptop-Charger-PA3377E-2ACA-15V-4-0A-AC-Adapter/332525946859 It would need the tip cutting off and I think this one adding. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-5mm-x-2-1mm-12V-DC-Power-DC-Male-Plug-Jack-Adapter-Connector-for-CCTV-Camera/152915979606 1
timbo343 Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 am i right in thinking it would look something like this:
difinity Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Yes, that looks about right. I'd just plug the adapter in to the spur above the cupboard and just have the 15v cable hidden in the wall, that can be extended if required. If ever the adapter dies it would be easy to replace. If you hide the mains cable in the wall that might not be so easy. 1
timbo343 Posted March 14, 2018 Author Posted March 14, 2018 Found a keene bluetooth wall amp on ebay for £60 inclusive of delivery with a power lead which i didnt think was too bad. Just got to sort the electrics out now and get the ceiljng boards back up. 1
timbo343 Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 (edited) So the amp arrived today and wired up the speakers i bought from amazon... must say im impressed. Just got one niggle, since it's second hand the previous owner has changed the name of bluetooth ID and i'd like to change it - anyone know how to change it back? I think i'm going to buy the mentioned PSU and wire that in behind the plaster rather than use the supplied and then purchase some phono euro style modules so i can put the tv audio through the amp too and maybe purchase an audio selector but this will a future project, need to concentrate on getting the kitchen finished first. difinity Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 A factory reset will sort that Bluetooth ID. Instructions how to do so are in this pdf. KLAB20DBi.pdf
timbo343 Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Ive tried a factory reset a few times but still it displays Room203.
