Gribbo Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Hi, I am trying to expand a Template for recording Homework and i am looking to create more formulas for data review (specifically NESTED IF THEN ELSE formulas). I need to add over 150 of these hidden columns over 5 mark-sheets. Is there a way to add multiple of them in one go just like i did with the data entry fields or am i going to have to spend hours doing them one by one? im expanding on on someone else start and i have no idea if this is the best way to do it. Any advice on quicker ways if it isn't possible to add more than one would be greatly appreciated.
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Hi Gribbo, Unfortunately in SIMS 7, there is no way to quickly add formulas of any sort. However most people starting out with Assessment Manager don't always do things in the most efficient way, so what are you trying to do and why do you think it'll take 150 formulas? (e.g. if the formulas are the same 30 on 5 different sheets except for their inputs, then it may be quicker to clone one master one)
Gribbo Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Thanks for the reply. This Marksheet is a HW tracker and therefore there is a new column for each week. I need the results in each column colour coordinated (hence the formula). The previous peron did it for the first 15 weeks of the year and now i need to do the next 30 or so (30 x 5 years gives us 150). I cant just add to master copy and clone as the mark sheets are already a work in progress and i cant lose the data from the first term. Looks like i have a long task ahead of me!
PhilNeal Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 It is time consuming to set something like this up. I think that result sets might help you as you don't loose marks when entering new ones. If someone on this forum doesn't respond try MyAccount.
Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 If the first term has already been done, then clone it for the second term and alter the resultsets or dates depending on what you are using, it will be much faster that way.

Deleting a marksheet does NOT result in deleting the data. That's not how SIMS works. Does anyone actually require the whole 5 years worth of homeworks to be shown against a student? As Phil and Esteban have both said - result sets will reduce your workload immensely here. Just did some back of the envelope calculations - you could do this exercise with just 7 aspects and 30 result sets if you did it with 7 weeks of aspects and result sets to cover each year/half term combination.
edumarcgeek Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I have, in the past, automatically (Excel VBA with XML DOM object) cretaed xml that I've then imported into SIMS to create templates with formulae. Reused it a few times. So if you're into that sort of stuff then that's an option.
