We we kindly donated around 20 ipads from a local business and just looking at AC2 however i had used the AC1 and that was easy and now it has these blueprints. We have also got jamf as we plan to expand on ipads in the summer so this is a dummy run. Can't use DEP for these ones but not sure how best to use AC2 to supervise them so just need a basic guide! Why did apple change it the first one was simple!

I had to set up AC2 from scratch and used that to manage nearly 100 in the school with that method.

Basic enrolment was always done by Restoring the iPad first > Preparing > Use AD binding to enrol to Profile Manager

Would have some set Blueprints for Staff, Student and Exam but would then layer some extra settings using Profile Manager as I noticed that the blueprints at times to apply the odd 1 or 2 settings

I've moved since and I am now using Lightspeed to manage roughly 100 iPads per-school and is a breeze to use.

Here's a link to a guide for AC2, although I would strongly recommend using Jamf, you can enrol the donated iPads into DEP and assign them in Apple School Manager to the MDM.

We use Ac2 ...and I often describe it as the worse piece of software ever written....and there is a quite a lot of competition for that spot. Its fine for setting up new ipads with the apps you require....but once your ipads come back in various states of completion and requiring different updates....it nearly always collapses in heap of error messages before locking up. (Note to self...best to wipe them and start again) Of course it is free...but then why shouldn't it be something Apple provide. Everyone tells me MDMs are a better way to go....but there are annual costs....

As @Brimstone says above (and I have literally done this today). Best option as long as they are running ios11 you can add them to dep via Apple configurator. This will then sync with your mdm and the devices can be fully supervised
