Like most here it seems, we give all students and staff email addresses and anyone can email anyone else. Only staff can send to distribution groups.

Out of interest do you have staff emails in the contact group displayed as "Mr Jones" or "Ben Jones" for teachers?

Thanks

We have removed all first names from the display name and replaced it with the initial. So it's Mr B Jones.

Ours are all Firstname.Lastname@domain, shown as "Firstname Lastname" in the address list, the staff first names are also included in the staff list published on the website (along with all the email addresses)

We have "John Smith" for teacher names. The aversion to having kids know your first name seems to have largely evaporated.

It's something I'm an advocate of but our leadership are nervous about allowing 1:1 communication.

So far it appears we are the only school that doesn't. 😂

As long as it in the school email system, so it can be traced, and you have the appropriate policies in place, such as who to report it to if you receive an inappropriate email then there should be no issue

Students can email staff. They can't email distribution lists (unless they're a member of the list - say peer mentoring group) and there is a recipient limit set for daftness reduction.

All students can email any staff member.

Students cannot send to distribution lists.

Students cannot send/receive out of domain, except to white-listed domains.

Students can only email each other in the same age range.

Any email with objectionable content is copied to a SLT member to be addressed.

We do display full names in the directory, I wish GSuite had an option for multiple GAL's
