Has anyone else had problems with Codecademy not loading properly? For students, when they click to sign in with Google, the screen loads but the "connecting to Codecademy..." thing in the top right keep spinning and never connects. Staff are fine. I've unblocked all the blocked ad domains just in case, but still no joy; now the only URLs which is appearing in a blocked activity report are staticxx.facebook.com, facebook.com/tr/... and facebook.com/connect/... (our filtering doesn't enable me to block the sub-folders, only the sub-domains so I can't release the /tr and /connect without unblocking all of Facebook, which I'm obviously not about to do.

So, am I missing something else, or will we have to find an alternative to Codeacademy?

Having issues with code academy here too, works on a teacher account but not a student account - It used to work in the past so it must be something new

These are the sites codeacademy list for whitelisting :-

https://www.codecademy.com
external-production.codecademy.com
cdn-production.codecademy.com
terminal.com
herokuapp.com
fonts.gstatic.com
cdn.mxpnl.com
js-agent.newrelic.com
codecademy.cloud

I cant see anything on the realtime webfilter

Hi Caffrey,

If it works for a teacher but not student then I would look at the differences in the core blocked category for the two groups. Probably something like file hosting. Teacher has it, student doesn't.

If using chrome or IE then use the dev tools to look at what is being requested and what is being received. F12 will take you there, if you have not disabled it.

We had this last week the culprit is *.cc-propeller.com believe it or not!

I tried that one, but no joy.

I got it to the point the only thing I could see hitting the blocks was facebook.com/connect or similar.

also ensure you have a do not https inspect policy for bam.nr-data.net

I didn't see that particular domain in the activity list, but I'm wondering if HTTPS inspect or SSL decrypt is the culprit here, as I got it down to the point the only thing coming in the blocked list was facebook.com/connect which came up even though we weren't using "log in via Facebook".

We had exactly the same issues and that was all I needed to add to get it to go online, facebook and such are still blocked.

Could you clarify what it was you added, it isn't clear which comment you're referring to.

Sorry same as Caffrey is referring to.

I added it to authentication exceptions (Do not inspect)

Ah, didn't try authentication exceptions, just white-listing. I'll give that a punt...
