Hi,

We have a number of HP 1820-48G J9660A switches around the school, purchased in 2012. While they have worked reasonably well we have had and continue to have several issues which have been posted around the forums before but the fixes do not work for us.

1. We had an issue where the switches would randomly restart - Fixed in a firmware release

2. We randomly have ports on the switch stop responding to GUI access and connectivity for users resulting in "no logon servers available" until restart - Latest firmware applied PK1.34 although according to HP it should have been fixed in PK1.21

All connections to the switch have been tested and toned out to ensure no loops and loop protection is disabled on the switches.

The strangest thing about this is all the switches work well for a period of time until one starts to throw a wobble and needs to be restarted. Once this happens over the course of a week or so the others of the same type will do the same even though they are not directly connected to one another.

Its so strange and I don't know how to fix or even if they have a hardware fault as there are 14 of them in total. The 24 port's of the same series have never had a problem.
