I've been flagging up some issues with regard to how students apply to our Sixth Form here. Currently there is a form on the website that then just send this data (Personal Info, DoB, etc, etc) over clear text as an eMail. I'm pretty sure this is not a great way of doing it, but of course, they looked at me and said..... how do we do it then?

In theory I could put something together on a https web page, squirt stuff into a database somehow (using some sort of encryption, etc) but although I dabble with PHP, MySQL, etc I'm not 100% confident I can ensure it'll be 100% secure. Also, looking at other establishments, I've seen more web forms that don't sit on a https page and think, surely, this can't be right?

So, I'm sure it falls under one of the principles of GDPR, etc to ensure we secure this data we're processing correctly, who has access, etc, but the question is....how do you do it then?

Thanks

If you're using office 365 I'm sure you could knock something up with powerapps and flow to fling the data straight into sharepoint?

ANNNND there's now Microsoft Forms in preview which will allow a publicly shareable link and throw the data straight into excel.

I've had a play and it looks real simple.

Yes. We're going to go with Microsoft Forms. Looks really good. Idea then is to match up the data we get from the LA and with what we collect hopefully turn into .CTF file and import.
