nicholab Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Hi I have upgraded an HP 640 G1 with an SSD but this is the second time it has failed with software windows has broken is this a hardware issue? Would I do better going back to a spinning hdd?
dry Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Are you ghosting the HDD to the SSD or are you installing Windows from scratch? If the latter, where did you source your Windows Installation Media from?
sted Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 ive also got some older hps that wont take an install of windows 10 1703 or newer from mdt (for some reason they will if i do it manually)
HTCPCP Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 You may want to check to see if there is a newer BIOS version available? Also, how is the SSD connected? Is it a SATA device, or an M.2 Device. I have had issues with M.2 before now.
chazzy2501 Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I have upgraded 640G1 with sata Kingston 120SSDs. No issues. Using WDS with 8.1 custom image but not MDT.
